The Myron and Berna Garron Charitable Foundation makes generous commitment to Sunnybrook Hospital

March 15, 2023

Sunnybrook is grateful to be the recipient of a generous $5-million commitment from The Myron and Berna Garron Charitable Foundation. This gift will advance our leadership in imaging and precision medicine, improving health outcomes for our patients through the support of two priority programs: the Schulich Heart Program and the Precision Diagnostics & Therapeutics Program.

As long-time philanthropic leaders, Myron and Berna Garron have demonstrated their dedication to improving health care time and again. Inspired by the memory of their beloved son, Michael, they have given back meaningfully to our community, including supporting youth mental health care at Sunnybrook.

Their new commitment will advance imaging initiatives in the Schulich Heart Program by expanding our Electrophysiology (EP) Suites. Our EP Suites are some of the busiest in the country, seeing over 1,000 patients each year to fix parts of the heart’s electrical system or activity.

The Garrons have also pledged to establish a Digital Pathology Centre of Excellence within our Precision Diagnostics & Therapeutics Program. This Centre will enhance diagnostic accuracy, treatment planning and clinical efficiency across the Hospital.

We offer our sincere thanks to Myron and Berna Garron for their generous support of Sunnybrook.
