Betwixt and between: peer recruiter proximity and community-based research

We concur with Simon and Mosavel (2010) that in the use of peer-driven recruitment (PDR) within the milieu of community-based research (CBR), the proximity (i.e., physical, social and cultural) of the peer recruiter to the research community and prospective research subjects has the potential to both enhance and undermine scientific and ethical integrity; however, important conceptual and procedurallessons can be ascertained by investigating the response tothe dual role of the clinician-researcher within the clinical research setting.
