Discontinuation of CK-MB testing - April 15, 2014
The 2012 Third Universal Definition of Myocardial Infarction identifies troponin as the preferred biomarker for the diagnosis of myocardial infarction, including MI post-CABG, post-stenting etc. CK-MB is the alternative only if troponin is not available. Troponin has been available at Sunnybrook for over a decade. We will therefore stop CK-MB testing on April 24, 2014.
