Process Improvement on Respiratory Specimens for Culture - May 6, 2019

All respiratory specimens submitted for bacterial culture (sputum, tracheal aspirate, ETT, bronchial washing/bronchoalveolar lavage) will be assessed for quality using the Gram stain results.

Discontinuation of CD56 (nk) and CD19 (b-cell) marker from lymphocyte subset analysis - February 25, 2018

The Flow Cytometry laboratory will discontinue offering these markers from lymphocytes subset analysis. We will continue to offer CD4 and CD8 counts as well as CD4/CD8 ratio.

High-dose Biotin Intake May Interfere with Immunoassays - May 4, 2018

Biotin consumption, especially in high doses (e.g. in milligram amounts), may cause immunoassay errors if the immunoassay method includes a streptavidin-biotin interaction step.
