Equipment

Facilities and equipment within the device development lab include the following:

  • Advanced machine shop (5-axis Mach 4 waterjet cutter, computer numerical controlled machines)
  • Rapid prototyping room (stereolithography rapid prototyper)
  • Laser fabrication room (excimer laser micro-machining system, a laser micro-welder)
  • Clean rooms (thin film deposition systems, photolithographic mask aligner, wire and eutectic bonding systems)
  • Catheter fabrication equipment (catheter braider, horizontal laminator, catheter thermal station, catheter hole punch, catheter testing system)
  • Processing room (dicing saw, lapping system, parylene coater)
  • Radio frequency room (microscopic probe station, network analyzer, signal/spectrum analyzer, logic analyzer, printed circuit board computer-aided design software, printed circuit board rework station, mixed signal oscilloscope)
  • Quality control room (atomic force microscope, stereo microscopes)

Devices of interest are, broadly classified, imaging detectors, therapy delivery vehicles, therapy-guidance technologies and therapy-localizing devices.
