Dr. Burton Yang
Yang is a senior scientist in Biological Sciences at SRI. His research explores the role of circular ribonucleic acids (RNAs) in tissue remodeling and repair. Along with DNA and proteins, RNAs are essential for all forms of life and help to regulate cell function. In July 2019, he secured a four-year Project Grant from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research worth $925,650, the largest of the SRI grants. With the award, he will evaluate the molecular mechanisms that underpin changes to the heart as a result of aging, with a focus on the involvement of RNAs.
