Dr. Pirouzmand’s focus is on translational health research that seeks to improve the outcomes of neurosurgical patients. He has conducted as principal investigator and collaborated on large randomized controlled trials of large-scale interventions for improving quality. This includes medical interventions, like determining the optimal prevention strategy for venous thromboembolism after traumatic brain injury, and surgical, as in studying a new intervention for malignant glioma. He does epidemiological studies on various aspects of system injuries like those related to vision, and those of the central nervous system and spine in the trauma population.
