Appointments and Affiliations:

Research Foci:

  • Quantitative MRI of brain tumours
  • Quantitative imaging of oxygenation in glioblastoma multiforme
  • Multiparametric MRI of spinal metastasis for response assessment after stereotactic body radiotherapy
  • Automated computer-aided detection of brain metastases
  • Texture analysis of central nervous system and head and neck neoplasms

Research Summary:

Dr. Maralani’s major research activities focus on brain and spine MRI, with a particular concentration on noninvasive and computer-aided imaging of tumours. His current projects include a clinical trial that uses quantitative blood oxygenation level-dependent imaging to detect tumour hypoxia in patients with glioblastoma. He is involved in evaluating quantitative MRI of spine for response assessment of stereotactic body radiotherapy for metastatic disease.

Dr. Maralani’s work has been supported by several peer-reviewed grants from the Radiology Society of North America, Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada and the University of Toronto.
