  • Founding Director, Nuclear Cardiology, University of Ottawa Heart Institute, 1980-1998. Currently, the largest Nuclear Cardiology program in Canada.
  • Obtained IND (Investigational New Drug) licence for dipryridamole (Persantine) Thallium imaging (drug stress testing) then OHIP approval.
  • Founding member and Director of Canadian Nuclear Cardiology Society.
  • Developed Patient Database Management Software for the Heart Transplant Program.
  • Created Windows Database for Heart Transplant, Heart Failure and Artificial Heart Programs
  • Developed Windows based Patient Database Management Software including graphical data entry and display for coronary angiography and myocardial perfusion imaging.
  • Representative of CCS on ACC Database Committee since 1995.
  • Principal investigator of Health Infostructure Support Program grant from Health Canada ($450,000) Toward Development of a Canadian Cardiovascular Database, 1999-2000.
    • A consortium of CCS, HSFC, LCDC and IBM, to link databases including CCN in Ontario, APPROACH in Alberta, BC Cardiac Registry, Nova Scotia, Quebec City.
    • Representation from the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI), Statistics Canada, Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences (ICES) and Improve Cardiac Outcomes for Nova Scotia (ICONS).
  • Medical Director, Heart Transplant Program, founded with Dr. W. Keon and Dr. A. Koshal.
  • Co-chair, Clinical Ethics Committee, University of Ottawa Heart Institute.
