R. Glenn Wells, PhD

Lawson Health Research Institute

  • Young investigator newly recruited to the Lawson Health Research Institute in February, 2000.
  • Completed his doctoral studies developing new analytical methods of quantitatively modelling SPECT systems, under the supervision of Anna Celler, an internationally recognized leader in the development of attenuation correction and dynamic SPECT imaging.
  • Continued his training as a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Massachusetts under Michael King, a world-renowned leader in SPECT research. Dr. Wells' research focussed on the evaluation of techniques for correcting attenuation, detector resolution and scatter.
  • In collaboration with Dr. Edward Chang, MD, at St. Joseph's Hospital in London, he has continued his research, performing a clinical beta-evaluation of GE's ATC system for attenuation correction in cardiac SPECT.
  • Has a growing international reputation for research in quantitative SPECT with 10 papers and 19 abstracts published or submitted over the last 5 years.
