Dr. Jeffrey Fialkov is Head of the Division of Plastic Surgery at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. He is an Associate Professor in the Division of Plastic Surgery at the University of Toronto, with a subspecialty practice in Craniomaxillofacial surgery. He received his MD from the University of Toronto in 1989, and his Royal College of Surgeons of Canada Certification in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in 1998. After completing fellowship training in craniomaxillofacial and facial cosmetic surgery at Monash University, and with Dr. Bryan Mendelsohn, Dr. Fialkov received further fellowship training with Dr. Ian Jackson at the Institute for Craniofacial and Reconstructive Surgery, Providence Hospital in Southfield, Michigan.

Dr. Fialkov was appointed to the University of Toronto Department of Surgery Faculty in 1999 and has served as active staff in the Division of Plastic Surgery at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre since that time. Dr. Fialkov is also an Associate Scientist in the Holland Bone and Joint Research Program, Canada’s largest integrated program for musculoskeletal research, education and care. His particular interest in craniofacial trauma, facial reconstruction and craniomaxillofacial biomechanics has led to the publication of numerous peer-reviewed articles and book-chapters on the subject. In addition, his research interests have led to a number of innovations in the field of craniomaxillofacial surgery including novel surgical techniques and a novel patented osteosynthetic system.

Dr. Fialkov is a faculty member of AO North America and has received numerous awards for research and teaching. As a supervisor in the Clinical Adult Craniofacial Fellowship Program, he provides post-residency specialized training in adult craniofacial surgery to candidates from Canada, the United States, Europe and the Middle East.
