Welcome to family medicine obstetrics at Sunnybrook!
Pregnancy is an exciting opportunity to improve the health of two generations, and family physicians are experts in well-woman care and health promotion across every stage of life.
Our team of family physicians understands the needs of our community and the resources available to women and their families. Good health for mother and baby starts before pregnancy, and family physicians are specialized in building and sustaining relationships with women and their families across the lifespan. We promote good health before, during and after pregnancy; In essence, we look after the whole person.
We understand and support continuity of care. We also believe that a woman’s health during pregnancy can be an indication of her health post-pregnancy, and understand the possible tendencies of developing chronic diseases later on.
Did you know that exercise is, in fact, medicine? One of our key services and approaches to overall good health and childbirth involves counseling and expertise in implementing exercise for expectant mothers, as well as elite athletes who are expecting.
We work with an interprofessional team that includes nurses, anesthesiologists, obstetricians, dietitians and Sunnybrook's breastfeeding clinic.
All deliveries take place at Sunnybrook's Bayview Campus in the Women’s & Babies unit. After the birth of your baby, your community family physician and/or pediatrician will receive all records of your prenatal care and the delivery.
We look forward to working together to optimize health in pregnancy and beyond. Health for life begins before birth. Together we can change the future of not one — but two — generations.
