Amputee care and prosthetic services (artificial limbs)

amputee care and artificial limbs

Our amputee care and prosthetic services team at SCIL will work with you to help you return to greater function and independence. We assess your needs, recommend and create a variety of custom prosthetic devices for upper and lower extremities to support your health-related goals and bring you peace of mind.

Our health-care team of specialist physicians, certified prosthetists, occupational therapists and physiotherapists have years of experience working with people living with many conditions and, level of amputation. Please see amputee rehabilitation services for more info about occupational and physical therapy services available.

Our prosthetists will work with you to determine your short- and long-term goals and needs. With many different prosthetic devices available, our team will recommend devices and supplies to suit your needs based on your current general health, activity level, level of amputation and lifestyle.

Our custom-made prosthetics are manufactured on-site in our SCIL Laboratory by Canadian Board Certified Prosthetists and Registered Prosthetic Technicians.

Please note: there is a cost for your prosthetic device. The cost for prosthesis is governed by Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP). ADP covers a percentage of the cost with the remaining costs the responsibility of the client. Third-party payers — for example, an insurance company — may be available to cover the remaining costs. Our on-site funding advisor will discuss these options with you during your visit.
