COVID-19 Assessment Centre at Sunnybrook

Sunnybrook's COVID-19 Assessment Centre provides COVID-19 testing to people who are 16 years of age and older.

Who can go to Sunnybrook’s COVID-19 Assessment Centre?

You can go to Sunnybrook's COVID-19 Assessment Centre to receive testing if you are 16 years of age or older, and:

  • You are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19
  • You are worried you may have COVID-19 (even if you are not experiencing any symptoms)
  • You have been exposed to COVID-19 (even if you are not experiencing any symptoms)
  • You are at risk of exposure through your employment

You do not need a referral or a health card to get tested.

If you are having difficulty breathing or experiencing other severe symptoms, please call 911 or go to your closest Emergency Department.

Sunnybrook is not equipped to test children for COVID-19

Sunnybrook is not equipped to test children for COVID-19. We are only able to test people who are 16 years of age or older. If a child under 16 requires testing, please bring them to a COVID-19 Assessment Centre at a community hospital, or contact Telehealth Ontario for more information: 1-866-797-0000.

Do I have to make an appointment?

The Sunnybrook COVID-19 Assessment Centre only accepts walk-ins.

What happens when I arrive at the Assessment Centre?

When you arrive at the Assessment Centre you will be assessed by a health-care worker. If you meet testing criteria (i.e. you are 16 years of age or older) a health-care worker will swab your nose in order to obtain a sample to test you for COVID-19. You will also receive information and referral that is specific to your situation.

Please note: There is a tent outside of our Assessment Centre to provide shade to those lining up to access testing. However, during busier periods, there may not be enough space for everyone to safely line up underneath it. On warmer days, please come prepared with water and a source of shade, such as an umbrella.

Where is the Assessment Centre located?

Sunnybrook's COVID-19 Assessment Centre is located at our Bayview Campus:
2075 Bayview Avenue
U-Wing, Ground Floor

Monday - Friday: 12 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday: 12 p.m. - 5 p.m.

Please note: Due to high numbers of people coming to our assessment centre for testing, those who arrive within one hour to close may be asked to come back the next day to receive testing. We appreciate your understanding.

People who are going to the Assessment Centre must enter through the U-Wing entrance. DO NOT enter Sunnybrook through any other entrance.

Mobile parking payments are available at the U-Wing parking lot. Learn more.
