COVID-19 Assessment Centre at Sunnybrook

Who can receive testing at Sunnybrook’s COVID-19 Assessment Centre?

The Government of Ontario recently updated the testing criteria for COVID-19 at Assessment Centres. Please review the criteria below before booking an appointment to come to Sunnybrook's Assessment Centre to receive testing.

Sunnybrook's Assessment Centre provides COVID-19 testing to adults and children over the age of one if they meet any of following criteria, as per the Government of Ontario's guidelines. Please note: Appointments are required, as our centre no longer accepts walk-ins.

  • You are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19
  • You were told by Public Health or notified by the COVID-19 Alert app that you were exposed to the virus (you may be asked to show Assessment Centre staff this notification).
  • You have a close household contact who tested positive in the past 14 days.
  • You work or live in a place where there’s an outbreak and you were told by Public Health or your Infection Prevention team to get a COVID-19 test.
  • You work in a long-term care facility, shelter or other congregate care setting.

Children (under the age of 16):

  • The child is experiencing a fever or chills (temp of 37.8 or greater), cough (more than usual), shortness of breath (unable to breathe deeply, wheezing), decrease or loss of smell or taste.
  • The child has had more than one of the following symptoms: runny nose, sore throat, vomiting, diarrhea, headache for 24 hours, AND a health-care provider has referred them for testing.

Sunnybrook is equipped to test children over the age of one for COVID-19. Any children under the age of one should go to their local Emergency Department for COVID-19 testing.
