Our goal in pedorthics is to improve your mobility by offering you comprehensive foot support. We do this through a multi-disciplinary clinic where our patients see a physiatrist and a certified pedorthist. Together, they will give you a complete assessment and decide on the best treatment for your needs. Sometimes patients with specific needs will see a pedorthist directly.

Pedorthics treats all kinds of foot issues. Some of these include:

• Over pronation/supination (low/high arches)
• Plantar fasciitis (heel pain)
• Metatarsalgia (ball of foot pain)
• Diabetes or arthritis
• Bunion pain
• Hammer/claw toes
• Traumas
• Foot deformities

Our treatments can:

• Correct your gait with custom foot orthotics
• Ease your pain with modified orthopaedic shoes
• Restore your mobility with custom made footwear
• Improve your balance and stability with silicon inserts for partial foot amputations
• Address your complex foot issues with a combination of methods

Custom foot orthotics

A custom foot orthotic is a shoe insert that can correct balance and gait issues, relieve pain, and improve mobility.

If you need a custom foot orthotic, you will be seen by a pedorthist. They will take a cast or digital scan that will be used to build a foot orthotic unique to your foot. Foot orthotics are made in our on-site lab. Adjustments and repairs are made as needed in real time during your appointment.

Orthopaedic foot modifications

At SCIL we specialize in the “hard to fit” foot. Patients with orthopaedic shoes can have those shoes modified to fit their needs. This customization is done in-house and can be applied to a wide variety of styles from workboots to dress shoes.

Our patients can also be fitted for specialty retail orthopaedic shoes. Our pedorthists will help select and order the best shoe for your needs.

Custom made footwear

For patients with complex foot issues or deformities, custom footwear may be the best solution for pain management, stability or mobility.

Our pedorthists and technicians are experts in designing and custom fabricating footwear unique to your needs and style preferences.

Your shoes are made by hand in our on-site lab and adjusted during your fitting appointments. The finished product will provide  the stability, comfort and support you need.

Becoming a patient

If you need pedorthic care, new foot orthotics, retail orthopaedic shoes with modifications, or custom made footwear, we are happy to help.

Pedorthic services does not require a referral. Please contact us directly and we will be pleased to book your appointment. If you have private insurance, they may require a prescription from a doctor for reimbursement. Check with your insurance provider for details before booking an appointment.
