For healthcare providers
The divisions of cardiac and vascular surgery at Sunnybrook’s Schulich Heart Centre, have established a Complex Aortic Program designed to meet the growing needs of our community. Central to this program is the Sunnybrook Centre for the Management of Complex Aortic Diseases (CeMCAD), a centre of excellence designed to transform the treatment of patients with diseases of the aorta. This is a multidisciplinary initiative designed to ensure patients receive timely, guideline-directed care and to help patients navigate the healthcare system after receiving a difficult diagnosis.
The CeMCAD is co-directed by one member from the division of vascular surgery, Dr. Andrew Dueck, and one member from the division of cardiac surgery, Dr. Chris Tarola.
The CeMCAD is a joint venture of the divisions of cardiac and vascular surgery at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. The program addresses the needs of patients with all forms of aneurysmal and aortic pathology, including:
- Aortic Disease – dissections, intramural hematomas, coarctation, penetrating aortic ulcers, traumatic aortic injuries
