Join us for our first virtual town hall on youth mental health
COVID-19 has affected the world in so many ways, and its interruption to school routines and social networks is having an impact on youth mental health.
Programs like the Family Navigation Project (FNP) at Sunnybrook are needed now more than ever to make it easier for families to access vital mental health resources and support for their youth. This free phone and email service relies entirely on philanthropic support from our community in order do what it does best: pair families in the Greater Toronto Area with clinically trained navigators who can help guide them through the complexities of the mental health system to find the most appropriate care.
Want to learn more? Join us on September 15 for our very first virtual town hall on youth mental health.
You’ll have a chance to learn what makes FNP so essential and unique, as well as discover real-time information on how the pandemic has affected youth mental health and what you can do about it. The virtual town hall will be a chance to hear from Sunnybrook experts like Dr. Anthony Levitt, medical director of FNP and chief of the Hurvitz Brain Sciences Program, as well as child and adolescent psychiatrist Dr. Monidipa Ravi and FNP Navigator Melissa Turner.
Our youth mental health specialists will give practical advice to parents and caregivers on how to help children develop strong coping skills and build resilience. We’ll also share how you can take care of yourself while taking care of your family. There will be a chance to submit questions, too.
Plus, you’ll hear about a fun and easy way to support FNP by participating in our upcoming RBC Race for the Kids.
Since 2013, RBC Race for the Kids has been committed to helping more families access vital youth mental health resources and care. The annual event has raised more than $14 million to ensure FNP – the only youth mental health navigation program of its kind in Canada – can continue to make a difference.
