Supporting
Compassionate and Accessible Seniors Health care

Alex Krawczyk
Thanks to donor support, Sunnybrook will continue supporting seniors in the community with integrated and enhanced care services.

As Ontario’s senior population rises, the urgent need for accessible health care that meets their unique needs has never been greater. It’s one of the reasons Alex Krawczyk, who established the Honey & Barry Sherman Legacy Foundation in honour of her parents, decided to support Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. As a registered nurse, Alex understands the increasing need for specialized senior care across the healthcare system. “Our health care system urgently requires innovative approaches and accessible facilities that provide personalized care for seniors,” says Alex.

The Honey & Barry Sherman Legacy Foundation is committed to supporting Sunnybrook’s vision for integrated health care services that keep seniors independent and out of the hospital. The construction of the Peter Cipriano Centre for Seniors Health will feature innovative facilities organized around the needs of seniors and their families to provide comprehensive, compassionate care under one roof.

The Cipriano Centre’s vision for an integrated facility that partners with family doctors, hospitals, and community care providers is an inspiring and important vision that I am proud to be a part of,” says Alex.

Taking a holistic approach to seniors’ health and wellbeing, the Honey & Barry Sherman Legacy Foundation is supporting the development of an outdoor space featuring a dedicated therapeutic garden where seniors can enjoy nature's healing properties alongside specialized healthcare services.

For Alex, supporting Sunnybrook is a continuation of her parents' legacy of giving and compassion. “For many decades, my beloved parents were thoughtful and generous contributors to society who understood the importance of improving access to high quality healthcare services,” says Alex. “I established the Honey & Barry Sherman Legacy Foundation to support projects that are aligned with my parents’ values, including supporting community resilience by strengthening our healthcare system.

Collaboration and donor investment are imperative in the journey towards more accessible and comprehensive senior care. With this partnership, we are building a future where every senior receives the compassionate and personalized care they deserve.
