Meniscal Injury

Overview

The meniscus is a firm rubbery type of cartilage that acts like a shock absorber around the knee. The meniscus can tear for various reasons, causing pain and swelling.   The symptoms can sometimes go away by themselves, but other times surgery is needed to repair the damage.
