Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF)

Definition

A watery fluid, continuously produced and absorbed, which flows in the ventricles or cavities within the brain, and around the surface of the brain and spinal cord, thereby protecting them from physical impact. It maintains uniform pressure within the brain and spinal cord.
