Definition
A group of symptoms that affect the brain. Characterized by significant loss of intellectual abilities, such as memory, that is severe enough to interfere with typical social, relational or job functioning.
Criteria for the diagnosis of dementia include poor attention, orientation, memory, judgment, language, motor and spatial skills, and function.
