Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA)

Definition

Any of several bacterial strains of the genus Staphylococcus (S. aureus) that are resistant to beta-lactam antibiotics and are typically benign colonizers of the skin and mucous membranes, but may cause severe infections.
