Peripheral arterial disease

Definition

Damage to or dysfunction of the arteries outside the heart resulting in reduced blood flow. Specifically, it is the narrowing or obstruction of an artery supplying the legs, that is marked by intermittent claudication (cramping pain and weakness), numbness and tingling in the legs.
