Blue Nevus: Cervix

Overview

Blue nevi can be found in the cervix and are usually an incidental finding on hysterectomy specimens. They are composed of elongated, wavy dendritic cells containing melanin. Usually, the cells are arranged in clusters and located superficially, around endocervical glands or underneath the surface epithelium. Blue nevi are usually immunoreactive for S100 and melan-A, but negative HMB45.
