Micro-glandular hyperplasia: Cervix

Overview

Microglandular hyperplasia of the endocervical glands is a benign hormonally-driven process seen in reproductive-age women. It features tightly packed glands with complex architecture and cribriform arrangement with minimal intervening stroma. Although its architectural features can be worrisome, microglandular hyperplasia can be distinguished from adenocarcinoma because of its bland nuclear features, the sparsity of mitotic activity, the presence of numerous subnuclear vacuoles and neutrophiles.
