What care do my incision sites need?
- Keep your incisions clean and dry. Do not apply perfumed lotions or talcum powder to incision sites.
- Wear clothes that are loose fitting or non- irritating to the incisions.
- It is not unusual for the incision on your belly button to leak a small amount of bloody fluid after the operation. This may last for 2-3 days.
- Dissolvable sutures (thread) are used and do not have to be removed.
- You may have white strips (steristrips) over the incisions.
- If the steristrips are still on 7 days after the surgery, remove them in a downward motion. There is no need to apply Bandaids®.
