New guidelines for essential care partners, beginning on November 9

November 3, 2021

Beginning on Tuesday, November 9, 2021: Designated essential care partners (approved essential visitors) at the hospital must show proof of full vaccination against COVID-19. It must be at least 14 days since the visitor has received a final dose of a Health Canada-approved vaccine. Patients may still enter the hospital regardless of vaccination status.

Please note, the new guidelines regarding vaccination do not apply to designated essential care partners visiting someone who is near end-of-life, the Birthing Unit, neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), those accompanying paediatric patients and patients with a developmental disability.

Also beginning on Tuesday, November 9, the two fully vaccinated essential care partners designated by an inpatient may visit at any time between 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
