Clinical Research Pandemic Planner

The Clinical Research Pandemic Planner is provided as a guide for researchers conducting Research Ethics Board (REB) approved projects.

Researchers should use the planner for all of their prospective clinical research studies (retrospective chart reviews and database studies are exempt), to identify the following in the event of a publicly declared emergency or pandemic:

  1. Study Action Plan considering participant safety as the priority
  2. Essential equipment, hospital resources and shutdown procedures
  3. Essential staffing needs

Researchers are required to complete the planner and to keep it up to date.

**A programmatic or departmental approach, which could then be applied to multiple studies, may also be appropriate.

Planners should be kept on file by the researcher, accessible to the institution and or REB upon request.
