Spine Surgery
The Division of Spine Surgery at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre is an interdisciplinary (team-based) service for patients with urgent spine conditions who need surgical treatment.
Vision:
- develop an academic spine program
- be known internationally for innovations and improvements
- translate and integrate research into the clinic
- ensure the delivery of specialized, quality patient care
The Division of Spine Surgery is comprised of orthopaedic surgeons and neurosurgeons, clinical associates, fellows and residents.
We see patients with:
- Spine trauma (inclusive of consultation for c-spine clearance)
- Spinal metastases
- Infectious diseases of the spine
- Urgent conditions of the spine - Emergency Department admissions
- Urgent conditions of the spine transferred through CritiCall Ontario
- Urgent conditions of the spine through internal consultation processes
