Research Coordinator
Prudence Po Ming Chan is a research coordinator in the Sinyor Lab. She received her Honours Bachelor of Science with Distinction from the University of Waterloo, majoring in Psychology and minoring in Biology. Prudence is involved in a number of projects, including the MyOwl school-based intervention, the effects of media on suicide project, various epidemiological studies and the clinical trial on cannabidiol in patients with bipolar depression. Her research interests focus on understanding population and individual-level risk factors of suicide, suicidality among vulnerable populations and mental health awareness.
Research Assistants
Jasmine Amini is a research assistant in the Mitchell and Steinberg labs. She received her Honours Bachelors of Science with High Distinction from the University of Toronto, double specializing in neuroscience and psychology research. Her research interests center on factors leading to suicidality and self-harm behaviours, with a particular focus on the impact of social media on mental health outcomes in youth populations.
Simran Dhaliwal is a research assistant in the Mitchell lab. She is in her final year of study at Western University, completing an honours specialization in Psychology (B.Sc.) with a Major in Biology. Simran’s research interests include the cognitive and environmental risk factors of mood disorders. She is particularly interested in exploring factors associated with high-risk for suicide in adolescents and young adult populations to inform interventions.
Samantha G. Mason is a research assistant in the Sinyor Lab. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from York University's specialized honours psychology program. Her research focuses on mood disorders, personality disorders, and suicide. She aims to deepen our understanding of these conditions, uncover new insights for effective treatments, and develop comprehensive prevention strategies.
Daniel Sanchez Morales is a research assistant in the Sinyor Lab and project coordinator for the initiative Partnerships for Life/Alianzas por la vida - Americas Region. He graduated with a Cum Laude Bachelor in Science, Honours in Psychology (concentration in neuropsychology) from York University. He is a member of the International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP). His research interests cover suicide prevention strategies both locally and internationally, accessing mental health services, individual-level risk factors for suicide, policymaking around mental health, and institutional responses to suicide prevention.
Joy Wang is a research assistant at the Mitchell lab. She is in her last year at the University of Toronto double majoring in Psychology and Human Resources. She is interested in suicide prevention research and mood, anxiety, and impulsivity-related disorders research.
