Areas of focus

From a discovery that helps patients with limb loss with phantom pain, to a treatment that helps burn patients regain mobility, to an approach that helps stroke survivors cope with depression, advances in rehabilitation research can vastly improve people’s quality of life.

Within each area of rehabilitation research, we are focused on developing for clinical application:

  • innovative approaches to problem-solving after life-changing injury
  • ways to improve long-term functional outcomes following rehabilitation
  • process improvements in rehabilitation
  • strategies to improve care transitions across the continuum.

By combining patient care with research, we develop and evaluate new treatments and strategies that allow patients to return home sooner, and in better health for the long term. We want patients to get their lives back.
