November 7, 2012

As per the Ontario Hospital Association:

"Marcia Visser, a Trustee of the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (SHSC) Board, has been named Chair of the Ontario Hospital Association's (OHA) Board of Directors.

Visser was appointed at the OHA's Annual Meeting of Members, which coincided with the association's award-winning annual conference, HealthAchieve, one of the largest health care conferences of its kind in North America.

"I look forward to serving as Chair of the OHA," Visser said. "The entire province is facing change on many fronts. Therefore, I see the time ahead as a period of transformation, which holds great promise for the improvement and advancement of the health care system."

"Progress requires the guidance of forward-thinking leaders like Marcia, who also has tremendous experience and passion for health care. For these reasons, I look forward to working with her during the coming year," says OHA President and CEO, Pat Campbell.

"Marcia is a strong supporter of care that is centred on patients, and a system focused on continuous quality improvement. I know the OHA Board, its members, and its staff are eager to work with her on the many challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. They are confident in Marcia's ability to strengthen the OHA's partnerships with other health system stakeholders, as well as our strategic relationships with our member organizations."

Marcia Visser was elected to the OHA Board in November 2009. She has more than 20 years experience in the health care sector both in Canada and the U.S. Marcia is currently a member of the Regent Park Community Health Centre, OTN and The Change Foundation Board of Directors. She is also a Peer Facilitator at the Canadian Patient Safety Institute." -- From the Ontario Hospital Association
