Dr. Marina Wasilewski honoured with Early Career Award
Congratulations to Dr. Marina Wasilewski, who has been selected as the 2020 recipient of the University of Toronto Rehabilitation Sciences Institute’s (RSI) Early Career Award.
Dr. Wasilewski, a scientist in the St. John’s Rehab Research Program, received the award in May at the RSI’s annual Research Day, an opportunity for students, faculty and staff to learn about current advances in the field of rehabilitation sciences. The honour is presented to alumni who have graduated within the last 10 years in recognition of their contributions to RSI or the rehabilitation, healthcare or scientific community.
Dr. Wasilewski’s research is focused on optimizing the health and well-being of patients and families by leveraging social and peer support while they are in the hospital and as they transition back into the community. She is passionate about patient engagement in research and recently led the creation of an education brochure to inform patients on the various ways they can engage in rehabilitation research. She is also developing a peer-support program for trauma patients to help them cope from acute care, to rehab, and back to the community.
Please join us in congratulating Dr. Wasilewski!
