From electrical injury and SARS-CoV-2 variants, to cardiothoracic surgery research in the media, the research of Sunnybrook graduate and professional stream students covered a wide range of compelling topics at the Sunnybrook Student Research Conference (SSRC) hosted last week.

Presented by the graduate student-led group SRI Student Network (SSN) and sponsored by Sunnybrook Research Institute (SRI), the two-day hybrid conference featured oral and poster presentations from 30 students from Evaluative Clinical Sciences, Physical Sciences, Biological Sciences, and Practice Based Research and Innovation. The conference also included five keynote presentations from Sunnybrook researchers Dr. Isabelle Aubert, Dr. Graham Wright, Dr. William Tran, Dr. Krista Lanctôt, and Larissa Waldman. Closing remarks were delivered Dr. Kullervo Hynynen, Vice President of Research and Innovation at Sunnybrook.

The conference provided an opportunity for students to present research, participate in a poster competition, meet fellow researchers and make connections for future collaboration. Six students were awarded prizes. Congratulations to the awardees, participants and organizers of this year’s conference.
