Research Summary:
The primary focus of Dr. Démoré’s work is development of new ultrasound probes for a range of medical imaging applications. In particular, she is developing micro-ultrasound technologies for high-resolution images of tissues. By miniaturising these technologies, with probes integrated in endoscopes or needles, high-resolution visualisation of tissues deep within the body becomes possible, providing better guidance for interventional procedures and improved diagnostic information.
Dr. Démoré also investigates acoustic manipulation, also known as acoustic tweezing, of cells for biosciences research. She has developed arrays with independently controlled elements that generate reconfigurable ultrasound fields for trapping and moving particles and cells, useful for application including as cell sorting and tissue scaffolds.
