Discharge / Going Home

Discharge time from the hospital is 11 a.m. Discharge time from St. Johns Rehab is 9:00 a.m. 
A family member or friend should take you home after a hospital stay.

When you leave, please make sure that you have all your belongings, as well as your after care instructions and prescriptions. It is important that you understand about:

  • Your medication, what to eat and drink
  • Returning to normal activities 
  • Return appointments

If you are unsure about anything, ask your healthcare provider before you leave.

Valuables in safekeeping can be picked up anytime in the Security Office located in CG03.

Billing / Patient Accounts

Any charges incurred during your stay for uninsured services will be billed by Patient Accounts and the invoice will be mailed to your home address after discharge. For more information about charges or billing procedures, call 416-480-4156.

Repatriation (transfer to another facility)

Your stay at Sunnybrook will last for the duration of care that is required from the hospital’s specialized teams. You may be transferred to a hospital or health care institution closer to your home for further care and follow up treatment. Learn more about repatriation »
