About radiation

Our radiation treatment program provides consultation, planning and delivery of radiation treatment for a wide variety of cancers.

We are a highly specialized referral centre for:

  • Image-guided intensity modulated radiation treatment: This type of radiation is delivered under CT guidance and allows for precise delivery of radiation doses to the cancer and sparing of normal organs and tissues.
  • Brachytherapy: Our centre has specific expertise in image-guided brachytherapy for prostate, gynaecological and breast cancer
  • Stereotactic radiosurgery: This type of treatment allows for large doses of radiation delivered under image guidance to tumours within or located near the brain and spinal cord.
  • Multi-modality and concurrent treatment: Here, radiation therapy is integrated in a treatment program including surgery and chemotherapy in a multi-disciplinary model of care.

Our care

Our care is highly specialized and individualized. Each major cancer site has its own team and its own multidisciplinary cancer conference (MCC) or tumour board. Cases are discussed at these weekly conferences and an individualized and evidence-based plan of management is developed.
