Histology

The mission of the histology facility at Sunnybrook Research Institute (SRI) is to meet the expanding research needs of basic scientists and clinical researchers who require tissue processing. We are well equipped with an automated tissue processor, autostainer, embedding station, motorized microtomes, cryostats and vibratomes that allow tissue processing to be carried out rapidly and reproducibly.

The histology facility offers:

• Full-service processing of tissue samples. Services include decalcification, paraffin embedding, wax sectioning, cryosectioning, vibratome sectioning and routine staining.
• Training on histological equipment.
• Do-it-yourself access to histological equipment.
