Research Summary:

The major focus of Dr. Seth’s research is to understand the molecular mechanisms of cancer development and progression to metastasis. His elucidation of molecular targets has resulted in numerous precision diagnostic and therapeutic applications. He has developed and used novel functional assays such as PDX mouse models to understand molecular mechanisms in cancer. Currently, he applies next generation sequencing approaches for early detection of cancer and to develop molecular therapeutic strategies that interfere with the function of key genes and proteins affecting specific cancers. Discovery of personalized targets and biomarkers is another result of his experience and expertise in comprehensive genomics profiling and molecular biology. His extensive collaborations developed over 20 years advance and support research by clinical departments at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre as they embrace genomic and other molecular diagnostic approaches to personalized and precise treatment. Selected current projects include microRNA signatures as tumor biomarkers predictive of prostate cancer recurrence and metastasis, characterizing markers of response to therapy in endometrial cancer, pre-operative MRI signal and mutations in colorectal cancers liver metastases.
