About our program

Changes due to COVID-19

Sunnybrook is taking extra precautions during the COVID-19 pandemic. This means changes to our visitor guidelines and screening for symptoms at the door.

One designated person may visit two times a week for two hours at St. John’s Rehab starting on day 15 of their total hospital stay.

Day 15 means if a patient is transferred from another hospital (including Sunnybrook's Bayview campus) to St. John’s Rehab, day one is the first day they were admitted to the previous health care facility or campus. For example: Maria was in an accident and was admitted to North York General Hospital on April 1st, then was transferred to St. John’s Rehab on April 8th. April 8th would be considered day 8 of Maria’s hospital stay and she would be eligible for a visit at St. John’s Rehab on April 15th.

Essential care partners may call their loved one’s unit at St. John’s Rehab directly from 8am to 4pm for assistance in scheduling a visit. Visiting hours depend on the unit – some are from 11am to 7pm and some are 10am to 6pm.
